You’re not limited to just BambooHR, either. Tech Rage IT automated a process for identifying duplicate job applicants, merging them, and summarizing prior application history. It sounds small, but it adds up: rather than relying on someone to review resumes and remember if someone had applied before, or manually searching every single applicant, this automation saved them two to three hours a week. Even if they automated nothing else, Tech Rage IT got back almost two work weeks of time to spend on literally anything more interesting.

Finance

Everyone likes to get paid, but actually doing all the stuff that results in getting paid…less so. There’s invoicing, updating contracts, verifying accuracy, ensuring no one’s overpaid (or underpaid), and making sure not to miss a thing. Well, there’s a reason you have a finance department. While the finance department’s crucial goal is paying things and getting your business paid, the easier you can make it for them to do that, the better.

Enter: automated billing reconciliation.

We’ve talked about this before, and why it should be at the top of every MSP’s list for “automating the biggest headaches.” However, you can automate more than just billing reports and device counts.

Tech Rage IT, for example, automated a simple Teams message to pull from QuickBooks Online to show which bills are due. No manual reminders, and no risk of forgetting to set a reminder: just automatically notified when it’s time to pay.

The QuickBooks Online integration can be paired with others within Rewst to expand the efficiency of your operations: ensure PSA invoicing updates match QuickBooks, create invoices, or automatically configure the needed details in QuickBooks as part of an onboarding workflow.

Task management beyond tickets

Rewst’s coop of integrations has some new arrivals. They’re focused on making it easier for non-technical teams to tackle tasks and projects together.

Internally at Rewst, we automate workflow documentation into Notion, capturing key details and providing a starting point for discussion and editing final documentation drafts. The team building workflows don’t have to remember to copy/paste links or details into multiple places, saving time and headaches when it’s time to finalize documentation.

Alternatively, organizations using Asana could use the Rewst-Asana integration to capture similar information and update a task in Asana to the appropriate project instead.

Rewst also utilizes the new Shortcut integration to sync dev updates from the project management platform to our PSA. This updates the status for tickets assigned to the product or dev team, reducing the manual effort of clicking between tools and ensuring the tickets are always up to date.

As customizable as your ideas

At a recent Rewst Open Mic session, MSPs showcased their automated solutions for boring, repetitive tasks that had tangible impacts on their bottom line. One example, from SuperFastIT, was an automation that pulled from several key systems to compile cybersecurity reports. What previously took them at least three to four hours a week became a streamlined process, highlighting missing services and compliance gaps they could improve.

MSPs can leverage automation to solve business problems far beyond just the basics of ticket management. Why limit your MSP’s ability to scale and grow to just what can be done with the help desk?
